We get asked all the time, where can I read a Swinger Cruise Review?

One of our clients submitted the following comments to give an insider view on the the decision making that goes into choosing to take your first Swinger Cruise and some insights on what it was really like. Take a look at this Swinger Cruise Review.

The writer and his wife have been traveling on cruises for over a decade, and after our most recent adventure in Venice, they wrote this review of Land Vacations and Regular Cruises versus one of our Swingers Cruises.

Swinger Cruise Review: Land vs Sea

Vacations come in two basic flavors: land-based and sea-based.

There’s the familiar land-based vacation routine. Travel to the first destination. Check into the hotel. Unpack. Do things. Repack. Check out of the hotel. Rinse. Repeat until you reach the last destination. Return home.

Perhaps you are traveling with a group on a whirlwind tour. (“If it’s Tuesday, this must be Belgium!”) Perhaps you are going to a beach to “veg”.  Either way, you’re happy to reach a destination– knowing that every move requires another “check-in, unpack, repack, checkout” cycle.

Sea-based vacationing–aka “cruising”–is different. Embarkation. Unpack. And then enjoy wherever the ship takes you for the next several days and nights. Most cruises put into a different port most days, leaving you free to explore a different town.

Cruising has its own charms. We learned a few things on our first cruise–15 years ago–that sailed from Vancouver up the inside passage to Alaska.

Each ship is a floating town. (Some ships today are large enough to be floating cities. Not our speed. ) The voyagers scatter in the daytime and reassemble at night.  What you make of the daytime depends on your energy and your willingness to get off the ship and explore the port. What you make of the nighttime depends largely on who you’re with–those who planned to journey with you, and those you might meet on board. The people matter.

We were lucky. Our first cruise was an extended birthday party of sorts, half a dozen couples organized by the honoree’s daughter as a surprise. At least the guests had the honoree in common.  We dined together, exchanged tales of each day’s land tours, celebrated the honoree, took in a bit of the shipboard entertainment…and then retired to our cabin.

Rinse. Yawn. Repeat.

We learned that the difference between a good cruise and a great cruise is the extent to which you share the adventure with fellow travelers. Cruises are about relaxation. They are also about making collective memories.

We had a good cruise. We had done our good deed. Checked the box.

Yawn.

Cruising didn’t drop to the bottom of our vacation list. It dropped off the list. For more than a decade.

Then we heard about a different kind of cruise.

Swinger Cruise Review: Vanilla vs Lifestyle Vacation

Adults only. Couples only. Folks sufficiently comfortable in their own skins to “put their sexy on”, to flirt, to play.

A Swinger Cruise.

Who, us? We’re the long-married couple in line at the coffee place. You vaguely remember from the neighborhood meeting.  You’ve seen us across the gym. Sweet and forgettable. We like it that way.

We might be ordinary, but we’re not naive. We prefer nude beaches. Close friends join us in the hot tub, where swimsuits are not allowed.

Were we ready for a week of traveling with a few hundred people who swap partners at the drop of a …whatever?

Was that really our crowd? We dawdled, we hemmed, and we hawed.

If not now, when?

We wanted a small ship. We wanted lots to do in the daytime. We wanted low-pressure fun at night.

We needed a travel agent.

Swinger Cruise Review: Your Travel Agent Matters

We were lucky, again. We found Lynn at TheSwingerCruise. She listened, thought, and recommended that we take a cruise on one of Europe’s great rivers. Small ship, 90 couples. “It’ll be great”, she assured us.

It was.

It was a great ship, great ports, great food, great crew…and most of all, great people. People who liked to have fun, make memories and be a bit naughty. So many terrific couples and a few of whom remain fast friends.

We learned that Swinger Cruises are drama-free zones. We found that swingers on cruises are extraordinarily respectful of others, their preferences, and their boundaries. We discovered that we are (still!) attractive to others–and that made us even more attractive to each other. Hurray!

Yes, we danced, we laughed, we played. By the end of our first Swinger Cruise, we were ready to sign up for our second one. It was just that much fun.

It took a few months to make all the calendars line up. Ours. And a cruise that we wanted.

Right now, the bed in our guest room is currently piled high with outfits for theme nights. New “cruise cards” with current photos just arrived in our mailbox. There’s a countdown calendar on the computer.

Heck yes, we’re excited! Hope to meet you aboard!
